Roadmap — Private Coaching from Outdoor Adventure Training
Roadmap is Outdoor Adventure Training's premium private coaching program. A phased training plan built around your goals and your objective date, hand-selected sessions matched to your ability and history, live 1:1 coaching at every phase transition, and plant-based nutrition coaching throughout. Six and twelve month builds. Two new clients a month.
Roadmap™
Built around your goals, with a coach alongside you every step of the way.
What Custom
Actually Means.
Every Roadmap is built from the same four pieces. What changes is how each one gets shaped around your objective, your history, and the way you move.
Roadmap
Your Date.
Your build starts at your objective and works backward, so stabilization, strength, tendon work, and vertical load land in the right order and the right months. The structure follows the NASM Optimum Performance Training model, the same evidence-based framework behind every OAT program, applied to one calendar instead of a general one.
How You Move
For You.
Your sessions come from a library of filmed, tested routines refined across hundreds of members, hand-selected to fit your ability, your equipment, and your history. Where nothing in the library fits what you need, we write it. Every session in your week is there for a reason, and you can ask us about any of them.
Coaching
Every Phase.
A live call at every phase transition, on Zoom or on the phone, whichever suits you. We look at how the block that just ended actually went, then write the next one from that conversation. Between calls, message anytime and hear back the same day on weekdays. Film a set and it comes back marked up, so you find out a hinge is breaking down before it costs you a season.
Coaching
With The Phase.
Plant-based nutrition coaching runs the whole build, from a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach. Macros and calories get dialed to the phase you're in, because a stabilization block and a vertical block don't ask the same things of your body. Micronutrients get adjusted around what you're actually struggling with, whether that's recovery, sleep, or energy on long days.

Tell Us Where You're Headed.
Eleven questions, about five minutes. We read every application ourselves and reply either way, usually within two business days.
No Two Roadmaps Are The Same.
Where you're starting and what you're training for decide how your program gets designed. Below are phases we've built before, each one deployed when a client's goals and progress called for it. Some will show up in your build. Others won't. And when something doesn't exist yet for the problem in front of us, we write it.
Assessment
Movement Screen & Baseline
You film yourself through a set of hand-picked movements chosen for your history and your objective. We review the footage together on a 60-minute call, so you see what we see. Everything in your build is downstream of what turns up here.
Onboarding
Kickoff & First Two Weeks
A kickoff call to walk through your roadmap, get the app running, and shape the calendar around your actual week. The first sessions stay light on purpose, so we learn how you respond before we ask much.
Stabilization
Movement Quality & Joint Control
Core strength, balance, and joint stability built from the ground up before serious load enters the picture. The block people want to skip, and the one that decides how the rest goes.
Corrective Work
Addressing What Keeps Coming Back
Built around the thing that has been following you for years. IT band, a cranky knee, an achilles that flares every spring. Targeted work written for your history rather than a generic warm-up.
Mobility & Range
Usable Range, Not Just Flexibility
Ankles, hips, and thoracic spine, because those three decide what a loaded step-up or a steep descent feels like. Runs alongside other work rather than replacing it.
Strength Endurance
Durability Under Repetition
Posterior chain for the climbs, anterior chain for the descents, with load rising while the sessions stay repeatable. The block that makes day four feel like day one.
Strength & Hypertrophy
Tissue Volume & Work Capacity
Moderate loads, higher volume, shorter rest. Builds the muscle that carries a pack and protects a joint, which matters more every decade past forty.
Maximal Strength
Peak Force Production
Heavy loads, low reps, long rest. Raises the ceiling everything else sits under. Programmed once your foundation and connective tissue say you've earned it.
Heavy Slow Resistance
Connective Tissue Resilience
Connective tissue adapts six to eight weeks slower than muscle, so it gets its own block. Slow, heavy, deliberate tempos that build the joint resilience long days demand.
Power Development
Rate Of Force Production
Strength says how much you can move. Power says how fast. Explosive step-ups and short ground-contact work for the person who gets up the climb well behind everyone else.
Speed, Agility & Quickness
Footwork & Reaction Time
Scree, roots, wet rock, and the ankle that has to react before you think about it. Multi-directional footwork and landing mechanics that keep a bad step from becoming a bad trip.
Vertical Performance
Climbing Power & Descent Control
Pack-loaded climbing and controlled descent, built around whatever you have access to. Descent gets trained as hard as ascent, because that is where knees give out.
Aerobic Endurance
Zone 2 Base & Efficiency
The engine underneath everything else. Long, easy, unglamorous, and the work most hikers skip. Built around trails, a treadmill, or a bike, whichever you actually have.
Objective Specific
Real-World Readiness
Shaped entirely by where you're going. Altitude, consecutive days, pack weight, terrain, technical demands. Everything built so far gets pointed at one date.
In-Season Maintenance
Hold What You Built
For skiers and anyone deep in their season. The calendar reorganizes around days on the hill instead of competing with them, holding strength through a long winter.
Taper & Trip Prep
Arrive Fresh
Volume comes down so you show up rested. Travel nutrition, pack loading, and the first days on trail get planned on a call before you leave.
Scheduled De-Loads
Absorb The Work
A planned reset every six to eight weeks, and an unplanned one whenever life demands it. Lighter activity that holds the base while joint and muscle stress come down.
The Order Is
Our Job.
Picking a phase is easy. Deciding when to program it, how long to run it, and when to change course because of how you're responding is the challenge. That call gets made continuously, not once at the start.
Every phase is coached, with simpler entry points on every movement. What your build includes, how long each phase runs, and where it falls is decided after your assessment, then adjusted at every check-in as we see how your body is responding.
Before You Commit.
We read your application and follow up by email within two to three business days, either way. If it looks like a good fit, that email includes a link to book a kickoff call.
The call is where we work out your objective, your timeline, and which term makes sense. Nothing is owed and nothing is charged before that conversation happens.
Our standard programs are built and ready to run. You follow the progression, message your trainer in the app, and do the work. They are excellent, and for most people they are the right call.
Roadmap is the version where you don't have to think about any of it. The programming is shaped around your body and your date, we're on a live call together at every phase change, roughly every six to eight weeks, and the plan gets rewritten as your body responds. You have someone in your corner with priority support, rather than a program you're responsible for adapting yourself.
No. Every other OAT program has one, and Roadmap doesn't, because the work starts before you ever open the app. The assessment, the review call, and building your roadmap all happen up front, and none of that can be undone after seven days.
If you want to feel out how we coach before committing, start with one of the standard programs and use the free trial there. Plenty of people come to Roadmap that way.
You film yourself moving through a set of exercises we pick based on your history and your objective. We review that footage together on a 60-minute call, so you see what we see rather than being handed a verdict.
It doesn't stop there. You can send form videos throughout your build and we review them as a priority, which is how small breakdowns get caught before they turn into something that costs you a season.
It helps a lot. We already know how you've responded to load, where you've plateaued, what you've skipped, and how you communicate. That history means your roadmap starts from something real instead of from a questionnaire, and it usually means a better build.
Yes. Most people come in this way, and the assessment exists precisely so we can build for someone we haven't worked with before.
If you'd rather get a feel for how we coach first, start in one of the standard programs with the 7-day free trial and move into Roadmap when you're ready. Either route works.
Under two weeks, nothing pauses. This is where having a coach matters most. We adapt around it, train what still works, and get you back without losing the thread. A fixed program can't do that.
For something medical that keeps you out longer than two weeks, your term pauses and that time gets added to the end, up to eight weeks, once per term. Tell us what's going on and we'll sort it out.
Because the work takes that long. Connective tissue adapts six to eight weeks slower than muscle, and a build that respects that can't be compressed into twelve weeks without skipping the part that keeps you healthy.
If your objective is sooner than six months out, the term still runs six months. The trip sits inside the build rather than ending it, and the work continues after you get home.
No. Your application tells us exactly what you have to train with, and the build gets written around that. A garage with dumbbells and a sturdy step works. A treadmill or StairMaster covers the vertical work if the nearest hill is three hours away.
We build for the equipment and terrain you actually have, not the setup we wish you had.
By then we know each other well, so it's a conversation rather than a renewal notice. You can run another term and keep building on what you've established, with the next objective shaping the work.
Or you can move into one of the standard programs to hold what you've built at your own pace. Plenty of people do that between big objectives and come back to Roadmap when the next one lands on the calendar.
