Powder Prep Training Program
Powder Prep is a 28-week periodized ski training program built around the demands of a full winter — resort days, hut trips, powder days, heli and cat skiing, groomers, and bumps and steeps. Eight structured phases, 166 sessions, and 86 unique routines to build the leg strength, tendon durability, and endurance to ski from first chair to last, day after day.

Build Strength
For the Slopes.
Powder Prep is built around the real demands of consecutive days on snow. Eight structured phases, progressive cardio, and ski-specific strength work to prepare your body for every run of the season.
Approach
Every Phase.
Powder Prep follows the NASM Optimum Performance Training framework through four progressive phases before the season starts. Stabilization in Greens, strength endurance in Blues, heavy slow resistance in Blacks, and power in Double Blacks. Each phase carries its own tempo prescription, and each one earns the next. We've taken the guesswork out of training for winter so you can focus on doing the work.
Workouts
Mountain.
Every session is designed around what skiing asks of you. Quads under load on every descent, edge-to-edge control, reaction time in variable snow, and the ability to do it again tomorrow. The progression is timed so Double Blacks, the power phase, peaks in the weeks around opening day.
Support
in Your Corner.
You'll have a dedicated Certified Personal Trainer from day one. Message them through the OAT Fit App about modifications, progression, or gear. Knees that flare up on bump runs, a phase that needs shifting around a ski trip, a week you had to miss. We draw on our own time on snow to help you move toward your goals with confidence.
Community
Train Alone.
OAT is built around a supportive community of like-minded people who love spending time outside. You'll have monthly Zoom meetings, the in-app message board, and a network of skiers around the world. Share your progress, your trips, and your stoke with a crew that loves winter as much as you do.

A Program That Builds on Itself.
Eight phases across 28 weeks. Every phase has a purpose. Every week builds on the last.
Greens
Neuromuscular patterning, corrective work, and joint stability built from the ground up. Integrated mobility is introduced here, and cardio starts with Zone 2 aerobic base building. The goal of this phase is to prime the body for everything ahead of it.
Blues
Load enters the program. Built on the foundation established in Greens, the tempo becomes more dynamic and the sets get long. This is the bridge from stable to capable, developing the muscular endurance that long days on the mountain demand.
Blacks
The newest phase in Powder Prep. Three heavy ski-focused resistance sessions a week, each with a distinct emphasis, loaded slowly and deliberately. Cardio volume increases as strength frequency comes down. The hardest work of the build lives here.
Double Blacks
Explosive, multi-planar work to sharpen reaction time and agility on the hill. Strength stays at three sessions to protect room for skiing and cardiovascular training. Everything you've built now gets expressed as power.
De-Load
A scheduled reset. Lighter activity that maintains the base while lowering joint and muscle stress. Recovery isn't bonus time off. It's part of how the body absorbs the work you've put in.
Storm Cycle 01
The weekly calendar shifts here. You're on snow now, so the gym work reorganizes around the mountain instead of competing with it. All new routines you haven't seen in the build phases.
De-Load
A second scheduled reset, mid-season. Enhance circulation, aid recovery, and keep things flowing so the body can absorb what the early season has asked of it.
Storm Cycle 02
Six weeks, the longest block in the program. You're deep in the season and the mountain is carrying most of the training stress. This block maintains what the previous twenty-two weeks built.
Cardio and Mobility
Never Stop.
These aren't separate sessions bolted onto the resistance work. Mobility is introduced throughout the Greens phase and progresses continuously, shifting toward recovery support as you spend more time on the slopes. Cardiovascular programming adapts alongside your resistance training, and the full mobility library is yours at all times.

Before You Click In.
Seven days of full access to the program, the app, and your trainer. Nothing is held back and there's no limited version. If it isn't the right fit, cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
You can train the whole program in a garage or a spare room. Here's what's required:
- Dumbbells or kettlebells you can progress with. This is the one that matters. The Black Diamond phase loads heavy and slow at a 3/0/3 tempo, so a single light pair will not get you through the entirety of the program. Adjustable dumbbells or several fixed pairs give you the room to keep progressing.
- Two step-up surfaces. A 3 to 8 inch step for step-downs, beginner step-ups, split squats and lunges, and a 12 to 18 inch box or bench for full step-ups and strength progression.
- Resistance bands and mini resistance bands for activation, stability, and mobility work.
- A yoga mat for floor and core work.
- A foam roller and a lacrosse or massage ball for the mobility routines.
- Supportive training shoes.
- Bosu ball, for balance and stability work
- Stability ball
- TRX or suspension trainer
- Agility ladder, for footwork in Double Black Diamond
A commercial gym covers all of it. Full details are in the downloadable equipment list.
September 1 is the ideal start. It puts Double Black Diamond, the power phase, in the weeks either side of most resorts opening, and lands the first de-load on Christmas week.
Starting later still works. The build phases carry you forward from wherever you are, and your trainer can compress or reorder blocks around your season.
No. Every strength session is designed for a gym or a home setup, and the cardio work adapts to whatever you have: treadmill, bike, rower, stairs, or the road outside.
The in-season phases assume you're skiing regularly, but they flex around however often that actually is.
The progression is built to meet you where you are. Greens starts with movement quality and bodyweight patterning before any real load enters, so there's an on-ramp regardless of where you're beginning.
From there, your trainer adjusts loading, volume, and exercise selection based on what you report back. Every movement has regressions and progressions built in.
Everything lives in the OAT Fit app, on iOS, Android, or any browser. Your calendar tells you what's on for the day, every exercise has video instruction, and sessions come with a built-in timer plus a full follow-along option.
You get a dedicated Certified Personal Trainer from day one, reachable directly in the app. Not a chatbot, not a shared inbox.
Message them about modifications, form, a knee that flares up on bump runs, shifting a phase around a ski trip, or gear questions. It's the same person all the way through, so they know your history.
Nothing breaks. Pick up where you left off, or message your trainer and they'll adjust the calendar so you don't lose the thread of the progression.
The program is built for people with jobs, families, and travel. Consistency over months matters far more than any single week.
You finish deep-season maintenance in far better shape than you started, and that becomes the base you build from next fall rather than starting over.
Plenty of members move to another OAT program for spring and summer, then return to Powder Prep when the days shorten.
Yes. Cancel any time in the seven days and you won't be charged. No forms, no phone call, no retention pitch.
