Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2026We hold your information to the same standard we hold the backcountry. Take only what you need, look after what you carry, and leave the rest alone. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
Only what coaching needs
We collect the information it takes to run your program, bill your membership, and answer your messages.
No ads, no data sales
We don't sell your personal information, run advertising on our site, or use ad-tracking pixels.
Seen only by OAT coaches
Your training and health details stay with the coaches who work with you, and they're never used for marketing.
What We Collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your name, email address, and the membership you choose.
- Payment details. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We see the card type, the last four digits, and your billing history, but never your full card number.
- Training information. Your goals, upcoming trips, training history, injuries or limitations you tell us about, check-ins, workout logs, and any form videos you send.
- Messages. What you send your coach through the OAT Fit App, by email, or through our contact form.
- Community content. Posts and comments in our member community, and any places you pin on the OAT map, which other members can see.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website or use the app, we receive standard technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location based on IP address, and the pages you view. Section 05 covers how this works.
How We Use It
- Build, deliver, and adjust your training program
- Let your coach answer your questions and review your form
- Process payments, renewals, and cancellations
- Send emails about your account, your program, and your trial
- Send our newsletter and training content, if you've signed up for it
- Fix problems and understand which parts of the site and program people actually use
- Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't build profiles of you to sell or share with anyone.
Like most small businesses, we use a range of software to run OAT, including some AI-assisted tools for things like proofreading and site design. Your coaching always comes from OAT coaches.
Training and Health Information
Coaching works best when you tell us about the knee that flares up on descents or the surgery you had two years ago. We know that information is personal, so we treat it with extra care.
Your training and health details are seen only by OAT coaches. We use them to coach you and for nothing else. They are never used for marketing or shared for anyone else's purposes.
OAT provides fitness coaching, not medical care. We are not a healthcare provider, and the information you share with us isn't covered by health privacy laws like HIPAA. We protect it anyway, following the practices on this page.
Who We Share With
We rely on a small set of service providers to run OAT. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job for us, and each handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Beyond these providers, we share information only when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if OAT is ever sold or merged, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores so a website can remember things between visits. We use two kinds.
- Essential cookies keep you signed in, run checkout, and protect the site. It won't work properly without them.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics tell us which pages are visited and how people move through the site.
We don't use advertising cookies, Facebook or Meta pixels, or retargeting tools. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's browser add-on.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your account and training information while your membership is active, and for a period afterward so you can pick up where you left off if you come back. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your information.
Some records stay longer because the law requires them. Payment and tax records, for example, are kept for as long as accounting rules require.
Your Choices
- Unsubscribe. Use the link at the bottom of any email. It takes one click.
- Update your information. Make changes through your account, or email us and we'll do it for you.
- Delete your account. Email info@outdooradventuretraining.com and we'll take care of it.
Security
Our site runs on encrypted connections, card details are handled entirely by Stripe, and access to member information is limited to the people who need it to support you. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you promptly and explain what we're doing about it.
Age and Location
Our programs are for adults 18 and older, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.
OAT is based in Ashland, Oregon. Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. If you join from outside the US, your information will be handled as this policy describes.
Changes to This Policy
When we update this policy, we change the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use your information in a meaningful way, we'll email members before it takes effect.
